They Thought He Was Mad!

Hideo Kojima is known as a visionary and revolutionary video game developer. The personality is no stranger to outlandish game concepts, and games like Death Stranding are perfect examples of his creativity.

Death Stranding 2 was revealed earlier this month, but Hideo Kojima is also working on a project with Microsoft. While talking to IGN recently, the developer revealed some exciting information about his struggles with the project.

Hideo Kojima stated that most companies rejected his proposals and thought he was mad.

The interview goes over the technical aspects of Kojima’s partnership with Microsoft. According to the developer, most companies could not understand his vision for the project. He said,

“The project required infrastructure that was never needed before, so I discussed it with lots of big companies, but they really seemed to think I was mad”

Despite decades of influential games, Hideo Kojima could not convince companies about his new project. However, he also praised Microsoft for letting him realize his vision. He stated,

“It was ultimately Microsoft who showed that they understood, and now we’re working together on the project, including the technology front.”

Microsoft is currently among the tech leaders of the world. The company has access to state-of-the-art technologies, which likely encouraged them to partner with Hideo Kojima, who claims to have been thinking about this project for half a decade.

The game’s official announcement revealed that it would utilize Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud technology to bring a new world to life. Earlier leaks have claimed that the game will be called Overdose, marking Kojima’s return to the horror genre.

The game is currently in development, but Hideo Kojima has promised many exciting things for his new title. He may be looking to bridge the gap between games and movies, as he has claimed that the upcoming project could become an entirely new medium.

What do you think about the upcoming game? Are you excited about Hideo Kojima’s new ideas? Let’s discuss this in the comments below.
