Clair Obscur Is Turning Out To Be A Strong GOTY Contender!

Story Highlight
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now surpassed 115k active players on Steam in only three days after its successful launch.
  • The game quickly launched to 51k active players three days ago and has continued to reach milestones since then.
  • The RPG has also sold a million copies so far and is expected to grow more in sales and player count in the coming days.

It’s clear that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the most successful new franchises to release in a long while, but no one would have expected its spurts of growth to continue rapidly even days after launch. Now, the innovative RPG has reached yet another milestone.

Sandfall Interactive’s magnum opus has now smashed through 115k daily active players on Steam. At the time of writing, this figure is growing rapidly by the minute and is expected to climb throughout the day.

Why it matters: Clair Obscur has seen sudden and continued blossoming after launch because of its eye-candy visuals and innovative combat mechanics that have appealed to a lot of gamers.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has already reached over 115k active players on Steam.

As seen on the Steam tracking site, SteamDB, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is accumulating a lot of players, and the chart shows no signs of dipping down. The weekend has played a big role in attracting droves of players to the newly launched RPG for the first time.

The RPG sold over 500k copies during its first day, with the figure now already increasing to a million. So, we can expect the game to have a lot more active players across all platforms simultaneously.

And like you would expect, it is also sitting at a ‘very positive’ rating on Steam, with over 92% positive reviews. It is the highest-rated game to launch this year so far, leaving titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the dust.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 also has a near-perfect user score on Metacritic, a feat few games have been able to boast over the years. The entry is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.

Do you think Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will continue rising in active player count in the coming weeks, or is this figure finally the peak of what we can expect? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
