Buyer Received $500 RAM In Bent Packaging But It Somehow Survived

Incredibly Disappointing For A $500 Purchase!

Story Highlight
  • A Reddit user says Newegg shipped a $500 RAM kit in visibly bent packaging.
  • The memory kit somehow survived despite the rough-looking delivery condition.
  • This happened because the buyer was lucky and both sticks were secure in the plastic housing.

In an era where PC parts are becoming absurdly expensive due to ongoing RAM shortages, GPU price hikes, and more, a buyer almost went through a nightmare scenario after paying hundreds of dollars for RAM.

A recently shared story on Reddit notes that the buyer received bent packaging despite spending over $500 on RAM.

Why it matters: PC components are always meant to be dealt with a lot of care, even if they are more resilient than they may initially appear to be.

According to the Reddit post on r/PCMasterRace, the RAM kit was shipped by Newegg in an extremely flimsy envelope. During the shipping process, the box was practically bent in half, upsetting the buyer at Newegg’s poor packaging and lack of protective measures.

The buyer says that this would have normally warranted a return, but he kept the RAM to complete an in-progress PC build. Luckily for the buyer, the RAM itself appears to have survived the incident completely unscathed.

The Redditor says that the RAM’s plastic housing protected the memory from any real damage. However, many in the comments expressed frustration regarding the poor handling of sensitive PC components.

This is made even worse by the fact that RAM has become one of the most highly sought-after commodities in the current era.

According to an update posted later, Newegg customer support has reached out to the buyer, but it remains to be seen how the company will deal with this problem.
