  • Rumors about the game have persisted since the start of last year, but Bungie has yet to confirm any concrete details.

Bungie has lately been shrouded by a lot of controversies, but a new string of rumors suggests that the studio might finally have found its stride. The developers are expected to have a pretty huge presence in this year’s PlayStation State of Play.

Now, new rumors confirm that Bungie is preparing to unveil Gummy Bears, a Smash Bros.-inspired MOBA project. It is a new multiplayer title with lighthearted tones inspired by multiple genres and set in a science fantasy world.

Why it matters: Many rumors have suggested that Bungie has been working on a mysterious IP since early last year; it could turn out to be this MOBA project that is supposedly planned to come out later this year.

Bungie PlayStation Sony
Bungie’s Gummy Bears was previously said to have been canceled.

The Spanish site Vandal reports that Bungie will show Gummy Bears in today’s State of Play. Rumors about the project began early last year. Bungie has since been through restructuring, but the game has reportedly survived all those trials so far.

Gummy Bears is speculated to feature a percentage-based health system instead of traditional health bars—like in Smash Bros. It is also reportedly aimed at a younger audience. Also, the game is expected to launch simultaneously on all platforms later this year.

Other rumors claim Bungie will reveal more footage and details about its multiplayer tactical shooter project, Marathon, during the event.

Bloodborne New Featured
Fans are also anticipating a new Bloodborne project to be announced in this State of Play event.

This same source also previously leaked the State of Play event and predicted its timing, so Vandal is pretty confident in its accuracy. However, it is best to take these tidbits with a grain of salt.

Do you think Bungie’s new project will be able to satisfy gamers this year, or will this turn out to be a standard MOBA title that no one asked for? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
