- According to project director Michael Gamble, BioWare is really busy working on Mass Effect 5.
- The studio is hard at work and doesn’t have time to release promotional material.
- The last teaser about the game came from Gamble himself, who hinted that the story could feature a Krogan civil war.
Ever since the critically panned Dragon Age: The Veilguard came out, BioWare has been trying to regain the good grace it had among players. The developer has unsurprisingly turned to its most valuable asset, Mass Effect, with a 5th mainline entry of the series currently in development, as confirmed in November.
However, production is going pretty slowly, with one developer from the studio claiming that the failure of Veilguard actually delayed the title. As it turns out, Mass Effect 5 is shrouded in mystery because BioWare is too focused on developing the game to focus on marketing.
Why it matters: Even though fans would like to hear some news at this point, it’s good to know that BioWare is at least fully focused on the upcoming title.

On X, BioWare project director Michael Gamble responded to a fan that the studio has been busy working on Mass Effect 5, and hence doesn’t have time to release any kind of teasers. No doubt, this reply doesn’t quench the hunger of fans who want news about the sequel, but at least we know production is well underway.
Gamble and BioWare were hiring a new lead developer for Mass Effect 5 in January, and the project director teased the story of the sequel in an N7 Day post last year, revealing concept art of a Krogan civil war through a cryptic blog post. Besides this, however, the studio has been tight-lipped regarding the sequel.
Mass Effect 5 has been in pre-production since at least early 2025 now, and sooner or later, we will get a look at what BioWare is developing.

On the other hand, Amazon’s Mass Effect show is also moving ahead, and it won’t be too surprising if both the sequel and the TV series are released at the same time.
