Story Highlights
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 has managed to win yet another award one year after its full launch.
  • It has won the Hugo Award, which is considered to be the most prestigious title for a work of fiction.
  • The CRPG has been such a hit that its accolades are seemingly never-ending.

It seems that Baldur’s Gate 3’s winning streak isn’t stopping anytime soon. Even a year after it exploded onto the scene, the CRPG continues to be acknowledged for its many achievements.

The title has just won yet another award, and this time, the CRPG has claimed a Hugo award.

Why it matters: Baldur’s Gate 3 developers claimed that they were winning so many awards at one point that it disrupted the development cycle. The prestige and glory are growing further since they’ve just won a Hugo Award.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Has Become One Of The Biggest Titles In The Industry

Winning a Hugo award isn’t a small feat. It is considered the most acclaimed award that a science fiction or fantasy work can win. The video game category was first added to these awards in 2021, but no awards were given in the last two years.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was up against the likes of Alan Wake 2, Chants of Senaar, Dredge, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for the award. It once again defeated Alan Wake 2 to secure a major award, outshining the competition.

The Hugo nominees and awards have determined my reading list since forever, so it’s a huge honor to be standing here.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Team Is Now Working On Future Projects

Larian Studios’ CEO, while receiving the award, revealed how the team spent over 174 hours crafting cinematics to cater to all sorts of player choices. He also thanked the entire team and the fandom who took the CRPG to such levels of popularity.

The amount of accolades Baldur’s Gate 3 has won in just over a year is truly astounding. Apart from the Game of The Year award, the CRPG also became the first title to win accolades at all the major events, including BAFTA, DICE, and others.

Following this success, Larian Studios has started working on its new projects. The team is no longer involved in the Baldur’s Gate IP, but it will continue to bring the same passion to future projects.
