- Astro Bot has managed to win a whopping 92 game awards for 2024.
- The title also won the GOTY award at TGA beating Black Myth: Wukong.
- Astro Bot proves that creativity is the key to a successful title.
Astro Bot was unarguably one of the best games released this year. It not only won the Game of The Year Award for the TGA 2024 but has also managed to dominate the category for most outlets winning 92 awards in total so far.
Why it matters: Astro Bot was nothing but downright fun, featuring over-the-top platform gameplay which has led to it becoming the most-awarded game of 2024.
As things currently stand, Astro Bot has won 92 major game awards. If things continue along the same line, it might even surpass 100 awards making it one of the most awarded platformers of all time. The current rankings are:
- Astro Bot – 92 Awards
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth – 33 Awards
- Balatro – 25 Awards
- Metaphor: ReFantazio – 24 Awards
- Black Myth: Wukong – 20 Awards
Despite an overall lackluster 2024 in terms of software, both the top 2 games were PlayStation titles. However, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will soon be available on PC as well as Square Enix pushes towards its multiplatform strategy.
Nonetheless, what Astro Bot has accomplished is highly commendable. Apart from all these awards it also scored 94 on Metacritic and became the highest-rated Opencritic PlayStation game of all time.
While it might not be too staggering sales numbers, it also was the second-highest-selling platformer in the UK for this decade. Astro Bot is also a great embodiment of how games can flourish if creativity is still alive.
