Recent releases from Ubisoft, like Skull and Bones, Star Wars Outlaws, and XDefiant, have failed to reach a large audience and have been commercial failures.

The upcoming release from the publisher, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has already met with great criticism and may suffer similar consequences to the previous releases from the publishers.

However, one renowned insider has predicted that the launch of AC Shadows will shape the future of Ubisoft in the industry.

Why it matters: Ubisoft is already going into crisis as the company value has gone down by 45%, making it a historic one-year low.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is Finally Coming Later This Year

Just recently, Jason Schreier, who has been a well-known insider in the industry, has made his predictions for the year. He believes that the success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is vital for the future of Ubisoft.

The release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows could tell us a lot. If it’s a hit, Ubisoft will have more time as the Guillemot family sorts out the company’s future.

He further stated that if the game flops, we will see a drastic reorganization happen at the company very quickly, whether it’s a buyout or a sale.

Jason also talked about the companies who are in buyout talks with Ubisoft; he believes that Tencent Holdings Ltd, which already owns a stake in the company, is an obvious choice for the task.

However, he also named Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Games Group, which has recently stated that they are looking to make big purchases this year. Still, it should also be noted that these are just Jason’s predictions and not any sort of report or leak.

Nonetheless, it remains to be seen how Assassin’s Creed Shadows will perform at launch. The title has been developed for around a decade and is finally coming out next month on 14th February
