Ubisoft Reveals New Assassin’s Creed Mirage Look At Gamescom 2023

Exploring Basim's Story Further!

Earlier this week, Ubisoft promised a new look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage for Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2023.

The latest footage for the game has just been released, delving into the city of Baghdad and exploring its locals as Basim narrates the story of a city that has changed for the worse.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expected to be a return to form for the series thanks to a focus on classic mechanics like parkour, social stealth, and more.

Unlike recent trailers, Ubisoft’s latest footage is narrated in Arabic language.

This is a nod to the culture and significance of Basim’s hometown, Baghdad. The trailer starts with Basim reminiscing about the city and memories of his youth.

However, the narration quickly transitions to the Order of the Ancients and their reign of terror on the city. Basim is then shown using classic Assassin’s Creed mechanics.

These mechanics include ledge assassinations, Basim hiding in curtain boxes on rooftops, and throwing knife kills.

This reiterates the studio’s focus on a return to the roots of Assassin’s Creed, bringing older mechanics to the forefront of the latest release.

Recently, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage would release one week earlier than initially announced, and the latest trailer reiterates the October 5 release date.

Apart from its setting and gameplay, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is similar to the older titles of the franchise in terms of scope and scale.

With a shorter story and a tighter experience, Assassin’s Creed Mirage seeks to appeal to older fans and introduce a new gameplay style for newcomers accustomed to the RPG series.

The recently leaked map from the collector’s edition provides an extensive look at this world, highlighting various parts of Baghdad and the outskirts available to players.
