Arc Raiders has been one of the most successful live service titles in recent years. It wasn’t one for the limelight when it was first announced, but Embark did a brilliant job on the title, and it became one of the biggest hits despite competition.
The title occupied the top-selling spot on Steam for several months despite releases like Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 6. However, now almost 5 months after its release, it has finally slipped below the top 10 sellers on Steam.
Why it matters: Notably, the top 10 spot is now occupied by Red Dead Redemption 2, which jumps 11 spots up thanks to sales, and the popularity of fun open-worlds inspired by the amazing recent RPG, Crimson Desert.
Arc Raiders has had a brilliant run, and it will undoubtedly return in the top-sellers list; however, the player base is slightly falling. It was stable at around 250-300K for the longest time, but has now slipped to 150K.
Interestingly, Red Dead 2 has made a return, which is considered one of the finest open-world story games of all time. Crimson Desert still sticks to its top 2 spot as it continues to sell really well, with 3 million copies already sold.
Anyhow, this doesn’t take away from the fact that Arc Raiders is still a brilliant title. There are some issues technical issues right now, but we can expect new updates to lift the player base back up in the future.
