Jury's Vote Counts For 90% of Decision For Game of The Year!

Story Highlight
  • Apple has just been added to The Game Awards’ advisory board.
  • This board consists of companies like Sony Interactive Entertainment, Rockstar Games, and more.
  • The board’s mission is to guide and plan the future of this event.

Apple made its biggest push into the gaming world back in 2023 with the iPhone 15 Pro. Since then, more and more AAA games have been released on the company’s latest phones, with the iPhone 17 Pro displaying major improvements over the last two models.

Following the iPhone 17 lineup’s release, Apple also appears to have made its way to The Game Awards’ advisory board.

Why it matters: The Game Awards has now become one of the industry’s more prominent annual events, with millions of fans looking forward to major game reveals and award picks at the show.

According to The Game Awards’ official website, the advisory board is responsible for advancing the mission of the core event. This board is currently made up of companies like Epic Games, Activision, Rockstar Games, and more.

The website has been recently updated to include Apple among these companies, so it will be interesting to see how the event changes moving forward. However, it should be noted that the advisory board itself does not contribute to the award nominations or final picks.

The awards are handed out by a jury of media publications, which counts for 90% of the weightage in the final decision. Elsewhere, audience votes are given 10% of the remaining weightage.
