AMD has recently announced its newest graphics cards for the RDNA 3 architecture. These products will conclude the RDNA 3 family, fitting in the $450 and $500 price brackets.
During the reveal, AMD compared the Radeon RX 7700 XT to the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, but recent 3D Mark scores provide a more accurate hint at the performance of the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT.

The RX 7700 XT is based on a Navi 32 GPU, and AMD has positioned it as a competitor to the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti from Nvidia. However, unlike its competition, the Radeon graphics card comes with 12GB of VRAM and a 192-bit memory bus.
According to Time Spy, the RX 7700 XT graphics card is substantially faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. This graphics card achieved 17,000 points in Time Spy, which also puts it ahead of the GeForce RTX 4070.
However, it slightly falls behind the Radeon RX 6800 XT. It should be noted that the test does not measure GPU performance in ray tracing workloads, as this technology is not part of the benchmark.
Nonetheless, for $450, the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT is shaping up to be undeniably better than its competition from Nvidia at similar prices.
The ability to develop a GPU that performs similarly to the previous generation but uses fewer cores is one of the factors that enable the transition to more sophisticated lithography.
The shift from the RTX 3000 to the RTX 4000 series was made using this method by Nvidia, and it makes sense that AMD would have done the same. However, the usage of a configuration broken down by chiplets has prevented the price increase of the new models from being as significant.
Therefore, the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT is shaping up to be one of the better offerings from the mostly disappointing GPU market over the last year.
