Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a dramatic course correction since its release. CD Projekt Red has seen a considerable boost in sales numbers. Many players have returned to the game following the brilliant Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime and the various patch updates to the game.
The game is currently in its best state yet, and a brand new expansion is also set to release in 2023. Phantom Liberty will serve as the only expansion for the game, and reliable leaker Tyler McVicker claims that it will be showcased at The Game Awards.

The expansion will see players returning to the beloved Nighty City, but a new district will be added as part of the expansion. CD Projekt Red has described the expansion as a “spy-thriller.”
Furthermore, Phantom Liberty will also include new characters and returning cast members like Keanu Reeve’s Johnny Silverhand. Nearly half of the CD Projekt Red team is busy with Phantom Liberty so players can expect a lot of content with the expansion.
While fans might find themselves disappointed at the lack of future expansions, CD Projekt Red has announced that work on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will begin soon. The developer believes that pre-production will start at some point in 2023.
Despite the leaker’s reputation, fans would be wise to keep their expectations in check to avoid disappointment if the leak is false.
Fans of the franchise have a lot to look forward to in the coming years. Phantom Liberty should give players a small taste of Cyberpunk’s future, and it seems like a new look at the expansion is coming sooner than expected.
