Cyberpunk 2077 did almost everything wrong at launch. The game was hyped up for years, and failed to live up to expectations in almost every way. From critics to CDPR fans, nearly everyone was disappointed at the state of the game.

Almost two years after launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a huge resurgence. Only a miracle could have saved this game, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners ended up being the miracle that CD Projekt Red needed. Yesterday, Cyberpunk 2077 reached an all time Steam peak of 119,256 concurrent players

While this is already impressive, the game has shown zero signs of stopping. Just a day later, Cyberpunk 2077 has reached another milestone. Cyberpunk 2077 is now the top selling game on Steam

The entire gaming industry has noticed Cyberpunk 2077’s recent success. The game has been making headlines left and right, with new players joining Night City every day. A brand new expansion titled Phantom Liberty has also been announced for 2023

Since launch, CDPR has been busy fixing the game. The developers have released numerous updates and bug fixes, bringing the game up to par. As such, Cyberpunk 2077 is a very different game today, compared to the original release from 2020.

Next generation console versions of the game have also been released. The game has always proved to be problematic for older hardware, and next generation consoles were not fully utilized at launch. The game runs much better on the newer consoles after the next generation patch. CDPR has also quietly added mouse and keyboard support for Xbox consoles

All of these updates and quality of life changes, along with the impressive anime adaptation have encouraged players to give the game another chance. Fortunately, the general audiences have taken a liking to CDPR’s latest release.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be remembered among gaming’s biggest redemptions. A similar situation was seen a few years ago with No Man’s Sky, and this instance is every bit as shocking as No Man’s Sky’s unexpected comeback.

CD Projekt Red suffered huge losses after the game was released. The developer also lost much of the good faith that had been built up prior to Cyberpunk 2077. However, it seems like the gaming industry has decided to give the game another chance, and Cyberpunk 2077 has finally found the success CD Projekt Red had been longing for.
