Now that the high-end variants of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series are out of the way, the GeForce RTX 4060 is rumored around. According to a reliable source from Lenovo gaming manager for desktop products @Wolfstame, the GeForce RTX 4060 is said to be based on AD106 GPU.

The upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 is said to be near the performance of a GeForce RTX 3070, which is around 20% better than the GeForce RTX 3060. Furthermore, the mid-range lineup from Nvidia, like the upcoming GeForce RTX 4060, will be the most popular GPU from Nvidia, so it is also expected that the graphics card might be much more powerful than Wolfstame claims it to be.

The two most popular graphics cards on steam charts are from Nvidia, including the GeForce GTX 1060 and GeForce RTX 2060. Both of these are in the same budget lineup though the same was not the case with the GeForce RTX 3060. Maybe the pricing was improper, or the crypto mining boom did not let the GeForce RTX 3060 reach its full potential.

The GeForce RTX 4060 is also said to have a total rated board power of between 150W to 180W. Compared to that, the RTX 3060 is rated at 170W, while the 3060 Ti consumes 200W.

So, if the upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 from Nvidia can lower its total power to 150W while maintaining GeForce RTX 3070-like performance, it would be an excellent option for desktop and mobile gaming. There is no official news on the GeForce RTX 4060, but it’s rumored to be announced next year on the 18th of June, 2023, and will be priced similarly to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, at least; we hope so.

The current generation of graphics cards is indeed high this year, but Nvidia has priced its RTX 4000 series so that a $1,599 RTX 4090 seems a good investment. What are your thoughts about the GeForce RTX 4060?
