Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac Games is one of the best superhero games, with over 33 million copies sold globally. Spider-Man’s return to gaming was celebrated as a massive victory for the character, and fans across all platforms have wanted to try the game since its release.

However, Marvel’s Spider-Man was a PlayStation 4 exclusive at launch. Many fans on other platforms have asked Insomniac countless times about a possible PC or Xbox release in the future. The answer has unsurprisingly been “N.”. But this changed on June 2, 2022. During the most recent State of Play, Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales were announced for the PC Platform.

This has excited millions of fans all over the world. Insomniac Games is also looking pumped for the release. However, a tweet on the subject from nearly five years ago has come back to haunt Insomniac Games.

While the tweet may have been true until recently, this is no longer the case. As Insomniac Games has received a lot of heat for the particular tweet. Many have criticized the developer for the rude demeanor, and the tweet has even been featured on Twitter account @poorlyagedstuff

Furthermore, many Twitter users have begun trolling the developer for the Tweet. The tweet hasn’t stood the test of time, and the Statement has become a bit of a meme.

“Hold my beer” as the user retweeted Spider-Man’s trailer from the State of Play.

Another user called this announcement the “Jim Ryan Effect” as a result of PlayStation’s expansion into the PC market.

Many users also replied with gifs and images, ridiculing the entire situation.

The developers received a lot of questions about the game before launch, and likely tried to make their stance clear to the public with the aforementioned tweet.

While the situation is a PR disaster, it’s not the worst thing for Insomniac Games. This has given the game even more attention, and the developers are likely laughing at some of the replies to the tweet.

Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan, has expressed interest in bringing more titles to PC for a long time. Therefore, fans should not be surprised to see even more exclusives headed to the platform. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Marvel’s Spider-Man are already announced for PC and more games are likely to join in due time.
