Cyberpunk 2077 has once again been updated by CDPR to celebrate the launch of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2.
Following the arrival of update 2.5, interest in the game also seems to be higher than ever. Over on Steam, the title has now hit its highest concurrent player count in the last three years.
Why it matters: The original Edgerunners anime played a major role in helping Cyberpunk 2077 make a comeback, so it seems fitting for the sequel’s launch to align with another burst in the game’s popularity.
According to SteamDB, Cyberpunk 2077 peaked at 162,291 concurrent players in the last 24 hours.
Note that the game last saw this much interest after the launch of the Phantom Liberty expansion, which many considered a highlight moment for the title. Back in October 2023, the first-person shooter peaked at over 274,000 concurrent players.
Fast forward to today, and the game has now hit its highest concurrent player count since then. Update 2.5 itself has also added a lot to the game, serving as more than fan service to mark the launch of Edgerunners’ second season.
Highly requested features like dual-wielding are now available in Cyberpunk 2077, and CDPR has even added a quest that serves as a prequel to the second season’s story. All in all, it seems the team has done a great job reviving interest in the franchise.
To make the most of the latest anime, CDPR has also discounted Cyberpunk 2077 by 70% on Steam, making this the perfect time to jump in for any newcomers to the IP. Similarly, the recent release of The Witcher 3: Remastered has garnered interest in CDPR’s other humongous franchise.
