- A new poll reveals that most people are unwilling to pay $1000 or more for the PS6.
- The poll shows that gamers are also unwilling to purchase the console at such a price in installments.
- The console is expected to cost a fortune, with RAM and storage prices said to cost Sony $680.
As the PS5 enters its seventh year on the market, Sony is now gradually preparing to transition to its next console, the PS6.
However, recent reports suggest that the memory and storage for the PS6 alone will cost Sony nearly $700, leading to the possibility of retail prices starting at $ 1,000. Fans, on the other hand, don’t appear too fond of this idea, voting against a $1000 MSRP.
Why it matters: Consoles are traditionally touted as affordable options, but the PS6 might flip this trend.

A recent poll conducted by Push Square asked fans whether they would buy a PS6 for $1000. The poll attracted over 4,000 voters, with the vast majority of 64% voting against a $1000 price.
Only 17% of all voters agreed to pay $1000 for the PS6, while 18% said that they would be hesitant about a purchase due to the price. A second poll also asked whether gamers would opt for installments if the PS6 were priced at $1000.
However, even in this case, 62% of voters stated that they would not buy the PS6 at a $1000 price.

Because the PS5 has already seen numerous price hikes and starts at over $600 today, the PS6 will likely edge close to the $1000 price point when it arrives at some point in 2027 or 2028.
Despite Asha Sharma’s claims regarding affordability, the Xbox Helix might not be too different, especially since it is expected to be an even more premium option for console gamers.
It will be interesting to see, then, how consumers react to the MSRP, especially since the PS5 and PS6 are expected to see an extended period of cross-gen releases in the coming years.
