- CDPR just launched the highly anticipated season 2 of the Cyberpunk tie-in Edgerunners.
- The company has also announced an Update 2.5 for the game to connect with the show.
- They did a similar thing with the first season, adding new content to the title.
The first season of CDPR’s tie-in anime project with Cyberpunk, Edgerunners, was a massive commercial and critical hit. It even won the Best Anime Award at the Crunchyroll Awards 2023, and the studio then announced a season 2.
Edgerunners season 2 is out now, and to celebrate it, the company has announced an Update 2.5 for Cyberpunk 2077. They did a similar thing when the first season came out, adding a new side quest and more.
Why it matters: CDPR is one of the most consistent studios in the industry, and it is remarkable how it keeps on updating its titles to provide more value to fans, as it also did with the free The Witcher 3 Remastered update.

CDPR announced the update on X, revealing that Update 2.5 is set to release on October 22, in just a couple of days. Now, they haven’t explicitly stated it, but it seems it will tie in with the game as it did before.
Now, whether it will be something like a side-quest or some other in-game content is yet to be seen. The company has also revealed a beautiful artwork for the tie-in, highlighting the artists who worked on it.
Anyhow, this is remarkable how CDPR does things. The Edgerunners season 2’s early reviews again praise it as an outstanding continuation, and if the reception continues, we might be looking at more future seasons.
