Labeled As The Preset C on The Nvidia App!

Story Highlight
  • Nvidia has introduced a new frame generation performance mode for RTX 40 and 50 GPUs.
  • It can deliver up to a 35% performance boost with a minor image quality compromise.
  • The mode is available as beta on Nvidia app and is listed as preset C in override settings.

Upscaling has now become a standard requirement for most modern games. Nvidia’s DLSS still towers in quality above the competition, and the company is also working to improve the frame generation tech with a brand-new model.

Nvidia has introduced a new frame generation mode that replaces the optical flow AI model with a new algorithm. It is labeled as Preset C and offers up to a 35% performance jump on the RTX 40 and 50 GPUs.

Why it matters: When it was first introduced, frame generation looked purely like a gimmick, adding artificial frames and introducing severe latency; but with time, it has actually become playable and quite decent.

Frame generation receives a 35% performance boost with a new mode

Nvidia recently revealed the new Preset C mode and stated that it boosts RTX 5060 performance by 35%. On base 3x FG, it took the FPS from 120 to 132, and going all the way to 6x, the FPS went from 255 to 348.

This mode is called Frame Generation Performance mode, and the previous mode, still available, will be called Frame Generation Quality. Nvidia says the new mode is lighter on the system, with a minor quality compromise.

The new mode is called preset C on the Nvidia app

The mode is currently available in beta, and you can download it by going into the settings on the Nvidia App. This does sound promising, but further testing needs to be done to see if the company’s claims are legit.
