Xbox has returned to exclusivity with Gears of War: E-Day after briefly experimenting with a third-party approach.

So far, the gaming giant seems to have picked the perfect title to mark the return to exclusivity, with the latest Gears of War title being one of its most exciting. According to the team, exclusivity for the title made them all proud.

Why it matters: Xbox’s return to exclusive releases was quite sudden, but the gaming giant picked Gears of War due to its reputation dating back to the earliest days of the Xbox 360.

Speaking to creative director Matt Searcy and studio art director Aryan Hanbeck, YouTuber Destin Legarie asked the team to share their thoughts on Gears of War: E-Day launching as an Xbox exclusive.

According to Matt Searcy, the team feels great about the situation, especially since the Gears of War franchise has such a strong legacy tied to the Xbox brand. The creative director explained that the team was honored to be put into this position.

He also noted that it was great to see CEO Asha Sharma say that the team is returning to Gears of War to return to Xbox. Aryan Hanbeck shared similar thoughts, noting that the entire team is proud to ship the game as an Xbox exclusive.

The studio art director made the point that Xbox’s decision to pursue exclusivity further highlights just how great The Coalition’s work on the title turned out to be.

We’re proud to be called out to be an exclusive, and I think in a way it’s a validation of the work we’ve done.
