After teasing its own rival to PlayStation’s Platinums, Microsoft has officially announced Mythic Achievements, giving Xbox players a long-requested completion reward similar to PlayStation Platinum trophies.

Why it matters: PlayStation’s Platinum trophies have been considered superior for many years, and Xbox hasn’t attempted to offer an equivalent option to gamers for a while. This changes with the upcoming update.

The feature is rolling out first to Xbox Insiders today through the latest Xbox Insider update.

Xbox confirms that 100% achievements are needed to unlock Mythic Achievements, so gamers who have already completed certain games in the past will immediately unlock Mythic Achievements for those games once the update goes live.

A progress bar will also help Xbox users keep track of their progress toward Mythic Achievements to make the process smoother. 

While Mythic Achievements aren’t necessarily an entirely new concept, this is something Xbox gamers have been requesting for a long while.

Completionists will soon have their own equivalent to PlayStation’s Platinum trophies on Xbox now, something that should reward those who spend a lot of time playing games on the platform.

Of course, this sudden change has come about as a result of Asha Sharma’s focus on fan feedback, which has also led to the return of exclusivity, a price cut for Game Pass, etc.
