Nvidia Graphic Cards Hiked For Third Time This Year, Cost Increased By 30%

Expert Verified By

Unlike The Price Increase In May, Other GPUs Will Be Affected Alongside The RTX 5090 series.

Story Highlight
  • Nvidia is hiking GPU prices up to 30%, marking the segment’s third cost hike this year.
  • The company is making this move as Samsung boosted the value of DRAM by 20%.
  • Unlike the price surge in May, this one will affect other Nvidia graphics cards besides the GeForce RTX 5090 series.

Just like every other PC component, the GPU sector has also been hit hard by the ongoing memory crisis. Companies like Nvidia, which cherished its graphics card division, have stopped reporting the sales of GPUs.

On the other hand, AMD has also hiked the price of its Graphic Cards multiple times this year, and may introduce another 15% cost hike in the second half of 2026. As it turns out, Nvidia won’t stay behind the American company in this regard and is set to hike GPU costs even more than AMD.

Why it matters: Unlike previous cost surges, this one has affected a variety of graphics cards while also boosting the value of GPU bundles, making it the worst one so far.

The company’s GPU sector previously saw price hikes in January and May.

According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily, Nvidia has increased the price of its consumer graphics cards by 20-30%, marking its third price hike this year. Unlike the cost surge in May, which only affected the GeForce RTX 5090 series, other GPUs will also get a price boost this time around.

As per the publication, Nvidia has been forced to make this decision because Samsung increased the price of DRAM by 20% at the start of this quarter. Some retailers have already adjusted the cost of different graphics cards, with the 16GB GDDR7 Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti now retailing for 10,700 Yuan ($1,581) compared to its 9,299 Yuan ($1,374) price tag last week.

To make matters worse, Nvidia has issued a price increase notice to its downstream graphics card manufacturers for the entire GPU bundle, which also includes GDDR memory. As a result, retail distributors are panicking in China, and one commerce platform has already removed several Nvidia GPUs from its shelves.

Chinese Detained For Nvidia GPUs
Retailers in China are panicking as this cost hike has also affected GDDR memory.

Hence, this cost hike has not only affected GPUs but also wreaked havoc in the GDDR sphere. One can only hope that this is the last time the company raises the price of graphics cards.
