Xbox Currently Looking To Sell Off Arkane And Marvel's Blade!

Story Highlight
  • Marvel’s Blade is said to have been delayed internally within Xbox and Arkane Studios.
  • A report states that this happened because the project exceeded its budget.
  • Xbox is now considering potential options for the developer as it looks for suitable buyers.

Recent rumors pointed to various cancellations and studio closures at Xbox following a massive wave of layoffs. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has now made these layoffs official, and it comes as a pleasant surprise that no studios have been shut down.

It was also said that Marvel’s Blade was one such game that would be impacted by the layoffs, and a new report now states that the game has been internally delayed within Xbox.

Why it matters: The announcement of Marvel’s Blade was met with a lot of excitement a few years back, and many were hoping to see Arkane Studios finish the project.

As reported by insider and journalist Tom Warren via Twitter, Marvel’s Blade exceeded its development budget. Perhaps this isn’t too surprising, given how long the project has been in development.

Although CEO Asha Sharma did not mention the game during her latest update on the situation, the report outlines that Xbox delayed the game internally due to budgeting issues.

The team is currently considering options for Arkane Studios and, consequently, Marvel’s Blade. This is something Asha Sharma also noted in her announcement, suggesting that Xbox intends to hand over the project’s development to different management after parting ways with Arkane Studios.

Anyhow, the good news is that, unlike what past rumors stated, the Marvel project has not been cancelled.

Arkane Lyon Last Released Deathloop In 2021

For now, Marvel’s Blade and Arkane Lyon’s future hangs in the balance. Xbox is considering several options for the team, but if no potential buyer is found within a suitable time period, the team could be at risk of potential closure.

Because Microsoft also shut down Arkane Austin a few years back, many are currently concerned about the fate of Arkane Lyon under the gaming giant.
