Why PC Gaming Sometimes Feels More Frustrating Than It Should Be

Make Sure To Deal With Any Technical Issues Immediately!

Story Highlight
  • PC gaming, despite all its upsides, can sometimes come to a halt due to technical issues.
  • Gamers are recommended to check their internet connection, background usage, etc. to keep things fast at all times.
  • Regular maintenance of hardware is also a good idea in such cases.

The PC is now the platform of choice for millions of gamers across the globe, and for good reason. Between technologies like frame generation, massive libraries on Steam, and more, PC gaming is incredible today.

However, it’s hard to ignore the fact that it sometimes comes with a host of technical challenges that simply don’t exist on consoles. A few of these are very common and usually easy to deal with.

For instance, checking elements like internet reliability can be incredibly useful. Some gamers even compare providers like Brightspeed when trying to improve online connections.

Why it matters: PC gaming is quite a bit more expensive than consoles, so gamers end up being disappointed if things don’t go smoothly after spending over $1000 on a setup.

Weak Internet Connection

A weak internet can ruin competitive game matches.

Building a brand new PC comes with the promise of blazing fast speeds, but programs sometimes feel slow, even with the latest hardware. A common culprit in such situations is the internet connection, since programs like Steam, Epic Games, etc., rely on the internet to fully load.

Similarly, a poor internet connection can hold back a person’s competitive gameplay experience with rubber banding, disconnections, and laggy matches. Playing on Wi-Fi is a huge bottleneck in such instances, since signals suffer when going through walls and large distances.

Running Too Many Background Apps

Modern PC setups typically have plenty of operations happening in the background, and this isn’t too big of a problem due to how capable most modern setups are.

However, gamers tend to use more resources with programs like Discord 24/7, so it is important to monitor background tasks. Having browser tabs open in the background for no reason, game launchers running needlessly, or VPN applications drawing resources is never a great idea.

This is particularly important when gamers are trying to squeeze the most performance out of their setups.

Overheating Hardware

Gaming PCs need regular maintenance

Like consoles, PC can overheat when not taken care of. In fact, in some instances, expensive hardware like the RTX 5090 can die due to melting cables.

As such, it is important to keep vents clean and PCs dust-free. Moreover, gamers must ensure proper airflow is maintained, and the PC has enough breathing room to avoid excessive heat. This part of PC maintenance is very important, especially during the summer.

Outdated software is also a frequent cause of frustrations. Many developers push out new updates routinely to address feedback and problems, so falling behind on updates can be a major problem.

Similarly, gamers low on storage can find themselves in a pickle. In such cases, it’s best to delete unplayed games. If possible, keeping an external storage device on hand is also a good idea, although buying a new one right now is probably not a great idea due to the inflated prices worldwide.

Anyhow, it’s important to deal with any and every technical issue since they can quickly pile up and hinder one’s enjoyment when engaging with PC gaming.
