Rocksteady’s Batman Beyond Game Is Not Real, Credible Insider Shuts Down Rumors

Expert Verified By

Rocksteady's New Project Still Remains A Mystery!

Story Highlight
  • A trusted insider has shut down rumors of Rocksteady working on a Batman Beyond project.
  • A report previously said that Rocksteady was looking to return to a single-player Batman project.
  • This unannounced Batman game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, as per a job listing.

The Batman franchise has been in a darker place than the city of Gotham since Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League severely underperformed due to its live-service elements. Fans have wanted WB to make a single-player Arkham Batman game ever since.

Popular insider Jason Schreier reported last year that Rocksteady was ‘looking to return for a single-player Batman game’ next. And other reports soon added that the studio could be focusing on a Batman Beyond experience.

However, that does not appear to be the case at all, despite generating much hype so far.

Why it matters: Rocksteady’s next single-player game in the franchise could be an Arkham Asylum remake or something else entirely at this point, as the studio has remained radio silent about its current plans.

On ResetEra, Jason Schreier shut down a series of new 4chan leaks that mentioned Rocksteady’s Batman Beyond project with greater detail. The leak also noted that the game used the Nemesis system and showed a set of images from a supposed build last year.

Jason called the entire leak ‘Faaaaaake,’ which leaves Rocksteady’s future up in the air once again. Previous reports had mentioned that the Batman Beyond project would be a part of a trilogy under PlayStation, but that may not be happening after all.

A job listing we uncovered earlier last year did mention that Rocksteady’s next project will use Unreal Engine 5 and target next-generation and current-generation consoles. But nothing can be said for sure beyond that.

Rocksteady was rumored to be working on a Batman Beyond game for a long time.

Warner Bros. retconning the ending of Suicide Squad gives a chance for Rocksteady to bring back Batman in a new mainline Arkham game, but such a project is still said to be years away at this point.

Do you think Rocksteady’s new game will live up to the hype and expectations of fans despite not being a Batman Beyond project? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
