AC Black Flag Resynced’s Parkour Flow Feels Janky Compared To Classic Release

The Pause When Jumping In Resynced's Parkour Hurts Immersion!

Story Highlight
  • Black Flag Resynced’s parkour momentum suffers from stuttering, like in modern AC games.
  • The parkour system is faster and features bigger jumps, but Edward seems too floaty.
  • Edward also seems to be using Naoe’s running animations from AC Shadows in some places.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has finally put Ubisoft in a favorable spot after months of negative press. The remake is already the top seller on PS stores in multiple regions, but a deeper dive into its updated mechanics has already started to divide players.

A new side-by-side comparison reveals that Ubisoft has updated parkour mechanics in Resynced to resemble modern AC games rather than the original. While it might be a good thing in many ways, the parkour flow in the remake also seems to suffer from stuttering.

This is the same type of stuttering in momentum after every jump that we saw in AC Mirage and Shadows.

Why it matters: Besides the stuttering, Ubisoft is making strides regarding parkour mechanics in Black Flag Resynced. However, Edward’s bigger leaps and floaty impact are unpopular because they feel unnatural.

YouTuber AKG29 highlights the biggest parkour changes between the original Black Flag and the remake. Edward’s movement has become much faster, and he jumps much farther than before. This makes the traversal feel much quicker across the map.

The world is also updated to accommodate the faster speed, with landings now lacking any impact to avoid the magnetic feeling from the original. However, stuttering after every jump really takes away from the immersion.

While the video calls the new parkour system an overall improvement, the comments underneath and gamers on social media seem to disagree with the sentiment.

Some of the short running sequences also reveal that he uses the same animations as AC Shadows’ Naoe in some places, which makes the gameplay feel awkward.

A majority of players now hope that Ubisoft improves these gripes in Black Flag Resynced before launch and brings back the impact from the original parkour system.

Do you think Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will impress gamers with its updated parkour mechanics? Will Ubisoft fix the jankiness before its release? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
