- Nintendo released its financial report highlighting its top-selling hardware and software.
- The lack of Metroid 4 figures suggests that it might not have sold well at all.
- The game, released in December 2025, is the franchise’s worst-rated entry ever.
Just like PlayStation, Nintendo has some outstanding exclusive franchises as well. These include Zelda, Mario, Pokémon, Metroid, and more. However, despite expectations, the recent Metroid Prime 4 was kind of underwhelming.
The title became the first in the series that didn’t have a critical reception, and unfortunately its might be lackluster as well. Nintendo’s recent financial report doesn’t mention Metroid Prime 4, suggesting it didn’t sell well.
Why it matters: The report covers all the recent releases, including Air Raiders, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Mario Kart: World, but omits Metroid 4, which could mean the overall sales weren’t that pleasing.

Nintendo’s latest financial report highlights really strong sales figures. Switch 2 has been a super hit, already selling over 17 million units sold and becoming the company’s fastest-selling console of all time.
Naturally, one would assume based on such high hardware and software sales, Metroid 4 would also book a spot; however, it is nowhere to be seen. For context, Nintendo only mentions games that sell at least 1 million units.

Yes, the game did release on the original Switch as well, but since there is no mention of it there either, it is safe to assume the sales were underwhelming there as well. This reflects on how Metroid 4 is the series’s worst-rated game.
Granted, Metroid games weren’t always the highest of sellers, but reaching 1 million sales shouldn’t have been a big deal. Nonetheless, the company will have to look into the matter if it wants the series to continue in the future.
