- The recent game in EA’s legendary RPG franchise, Dragon Age: Veilguard, was a huge failure.
- BioWare didn’t even celebrate Dragon Age Day this year and totally ignored it.
- Fans have been worried for the franchise amid failing quality and poor sales.
Once a legendary RPG franchise, Dragon Age has substantially fallen from its peak, especially with the recent title, The Veilguard. The title gave the franchise a bad reputation and contributed significantly to its major downfall.
Dragon Age Day is typically celebrated on December 4, but this year, EA and BioWare completely ignored it, highlighted by the deteriorating quality and falling sales of Veilguard, which underscores the severity of the situation.
Why it matters: The Dragon Age franchise was among EA’s frontline heavy-hitters; it has since fallen from grace. Many criticize that it has gone woke, which has led to a loss of creativity and, consequently, generic experiences.

Dragon Age Day is supposed to be a major event celebrating the series, which debuted in 2009. However, this year there were no celebrations, and not even an acknowledgement to mark the 16 years of the franchise.
Things got so bad after Veilguard’s release that EA even attempted to sell BioWare. It’s even more unfortunate considering that at one point the company wished to make Dragon Age a billion-dollar franchise.

The studio was even hit with mass layoffs, resulting in significant losses for EA. So, the RPG, which was supposed to revive the franchise, ultimately led to its total demise, as EA isn’t even greenlighting remasters/remakes.
All-in-all, Veilguard is a great example of what not to do with a fan favorite franchise. BioWare, fortunately, is still a part of EA and is currently working on the next Mass Effect, which has been in demand for years.
