Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is amongst the finest and highest-rated releases of 2025. The game blew the players away with a captivating historical story, a detailed open world, decent gameplay mechanics, and above all, great optimization.
Fresh from the recent European Game of the Year win, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 developers state that they want to become the new kings of the RPG genre and will be creating similar games in the future.
Why it matters: The RPG genre has gotten a lot of love lately with super hits like Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and more, but Warhorse wants to make its own identity and tower above the rest.

At a recent preview (via Gamesradar) for the game’s Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC, Warhorse Communications director Tobi Stolz-Zwilling talked about the studio’s ambition for its future games and how it wants to cement its place as the king of the genre.
We, at Warhorse Studios, absolutely feel at home in the RPG genre. We want to establish ourselves as the new kings of RPG.

He said that the studio feels at home with RPGs and that they have their own formula that defines them in a certain way. They’ve even teased their next title and said it’ll be similar to Kingdom Come 2, as it’ll also be an immersive RPG.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has, of course, been a hit, both critically and commercially. It. Its recent European GOTY win delighted the studio, and it is also a solid contender for winning the accolade at December’s The Game Awards.
