AMD Asserting Its Dominance In The Consumer GPU And CPU Space!

Story Highlight
  • AMD delivers a record revenue of $9.3 billion in Q3 2025, representing a 36% year-over-year increase.
  • RDNA 4 GPUs and Ryzen CPUs helped deliver these results.
  • AI chips weren’t the standout here, but the OpenAI deal alone is set to bring in $100 billion of revenue.

AMD has had a great past few years, and it seems that the chipmaker is finally catching up to the competition thanks to a great lineup of releases across both CPU and GPU spaces.

The Q3 results for AMD are in, and it seems that Team Red has once again reached new heights with record-breaking revenue of $9.2 billion. Despite lagging behind in the AI race against Nvidia, AMD’s consumer products have performed exceptionally well.

Why it matters: Nvidia has now reached a $5 trillion market cap due to the AI GPUs that have been selling like hot cakes. AMD is still enjoying tremendous success, but largely by depending on consumer chips.

The overall revenue of $9.2 billion represents a whopping 36% year-over-year increase with a 52% gross margin. $4 billion was generated in client and gaming revenue, which is a 73% year-over-year increase.

RDNA 4 GPUs, specifically the Radeon 9070 XT, have been performing exceptionally well, outperforming previous generations by 10 times.

On the CPU side, where AMD is even stronger, it has even seen greater results. AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, regarded as the best PC gaming processor, helped drive much of this revenue, and all Ryzen CPUs combined, Team Red is now slowly rising its desktop CPU share.

Moving on to the AI chips, while they weren’t the biggest revenue drivers, the case will soon change. AMD has partnered with OpenAI, which could bring a whopping $100 billion in revenue, significantly accelerating the company’s AI data center business.
