Multiplayer Mode Will Only Return With The Next Mainline Entry!

Story Highlight
  • Insider reveals that Halo 2 & 3 Remakes are under development, following the same blueprint as the Combat Evolved Remake.
  • Multiplayer won’t be featured in any of these titles and will only return with Halo 7.
  • Things at Halo Studios are reportedly in a rough state due to leadership problems.

After a long hiatus, Microsoft finally announced the return of the Halo franchise, starting with the remake of the first entry. Halo Combat Evolved Remake will be a single-player, faithful, yet modernized remake of the first game, refreshed with modern-day gameplay mechanics.

A new report now reveals that Microsoft is planning to remake more games in the series. Halo 2 & 3 Remakes are reportedly next and will be built on the same blueprint as the Combat Evolved Remake, skipping multiplayer mode.

Why it matters: With Halo Combat Evolved Remake coming, it’s only right for the entire trilogy to be introduced to the newer audience.

Multiple Halo Games Are Being Worked On

As per Halo Leaks on X, multiplayer in the series will only return with the next mainline entry. It’s unknown when Halo 7 will be released, but one could only speculate on a late 2026 or 2027 release.

Regarding development plans, the remakes are likely to release with a one-year gap between each entry. Moreover, all future entries will be released on PS5 consoles, too. Now that Xbox has stopped thinking of PlayStation as a competitor, exclusivity is off the table completely.

We highly recommend that readers take this information with a grain of salt until official confirmation is received from Microsoft or Halo Studios.
