Resident Evil 7 & 8 Also Launching On Switch 2!

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil Requiem will be available on the Switch 2 console at launch.
  • Resident Evil 7 and 8 are also arriving on the handheld, available on the same date, February 27, 2026.
  • It’ll be interesting to see how well the Switch 2 can handle Resident Evil Requiem.

The hype for Resident Evil Requiem is through the roof, and Capcom has invested almost a decade into the game’s development. As such, they expect it to become one of the series’ biggest hits and attract a newer fanbase.

Now, Resident Evil Requiem has been confirmed for launch on the Switch 2 console. Furthermore, Resident Evil 7 and 8 are also arriving on the latest Nintendo handheld on February 27, 2026.

Why it matters: Resident Evil Requiem looks highly demanding from its initial reveals, with high-quality visuals. Even though the Nintendo Switch 2 is a powerful handheld, fans doubt it would be able to handle such a visually appealing game, but their doubts have been laid to rest.

In the latest Nintendo Direct, a brand-new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem was showcased, following Grace Ashcroft and how the story connects to her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft. Furthermore, the trailer showed tidbits of gameplay, including a newer look at the game’s antagonist, who is a mysterious person in a hood.

Previously, insider Dusk Golem shared this rumor of Resident Evil Requiem being released on Switch 2, but he also mentioned a release on the last-gen PS4 console. While the handheld release seemed likely, a PS4 port does sound absurd considering how outdated the console is.

Resident Evil 7 And 8 Will Be Available On Switch 2 Next Year

Resident Evil Requiem’s performance is already quite stable on the PS5 Pro and PC, suggesting an optimized title with room for more improvement in the final release. However, it would certainly be interesting to see how much the game would be scaled down for the Switch 2.

So far, Leon hasn’t been showcased in any of the trailers. Still, reports suggested that the fan-favorite hero will be revealed later throughout the rollout to build more anticipation.
