The long-rumored Nintendo Direct is finally taking place tomorrow on the 12th of September, and as earlier reports suggested, it’ll be filled with big reveals and AAA ports.
Tomorrow’s event may give us the first look at a new Mario game, which has been teased by a journalist with an insider, further fueling the speculation.
Why it matters: Mario is arguably the biggest video game character, also having the longest history. While Mario Kart World was a launch title for Switch 2, fans have been waiting for a 3D Mario game which could very well be the game set to be revealed tomorrow.
VGC’s lead editor posted on social media saying, “I’m in a big Mario mood this week,” which was enough for the series fans to get hyped up. In response, SwitchForce, a known Nintendo insider, quoted that post with a Mario GIF and a caption saying “buy the new system for the mustache.”
Tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct is potentially set to be the biggest in many years now. It’s only right that Nintendo lives up to fans’ expectations with a proper Mario title reveal, which is speculated to be a new 3D Mario game if past rumors hold.
Furthermore, we’re only 2 days away from Mario’s 40th anniversary, and it’s only right for a new title to be revealed at such a big milestone.
Aside from a new potential Mario game reveal, the Nintendo Direct will have more big reveals and is said to focus on the third-party AAA games, too. Previously, fans have been complaining about the lack of Switch 2 exclusives and big titles, and Nintendo will finally put those concerns to rest.
