  • Story Highlight
  • Crimson Desert, the first large-scale AAA game by Pearl Abyss, was set to release this year.
  • The developer previously announced that the game will be released on 2 November 2025.
  • However, it has been delayed to Q1 2026 for further polish, but will still be playable at Gamescom and Tokyo Games Show.

Crimson Desert, one of the most highly anticipated games of 2025, has unfortunately been hit with a delay as development is taking longer than expected. The ambitious open-world action RPG has been on many players’ wishlists since its stunning gameplay showcases, but it seems the team needs extra time to bring their vision to life.

While fans were eagerly counting down the days for a 2025 release, they’ll now have to wait a little longer. The game has been officially pushed back to Q1 2026, giving the developers several more months to polish the experience and ensure it meets expectations.

Crimson Desert
The Ambitious AAA Project That Was Set To Release In Late 2025 Has Been Delayed.

Why it matters: With 2026 already lined up with a bunch of good games, the competition will be pretty tough.

As revealed by Pearl Abyss in its recent earnings call, Crimson Desert has been delayed to Q1 2026.

The launch of Crimson Desert, our first large-scale AAA console game, has been unavoidably delayed by one quarter, from the previously announced schedule.

The developer explains why the development is taking longer than the expected time and whether it will still appear at Gamescom.

Given the reasons, the delay seemed inevitable, but at least the game is still appearing at Gamescom. The developer has confirmed that its first large-scale AAA game will be playable at the upcoming events (Gamescom and PAX West) for the very first time, and it also aims to offer the same demo at the Tokyo Games Show in September.

While the game has been delayed, fans can look forward to several new gameplay showcases in the coming months, giving them a better idea of what to expect. It’s worth noting that an exact release date has yet to be confirmed and won’t be announced at Gamescom.

Pearl Abyss has stated that the final date will be revealed soon, so fans will need to remain patient a bit longer.
