Squashes The €80 Price Tag Rumor!

Story Highlight
  • There have been rumors going on that Battlefield 6 will cost €80.
  • However, just recently, the CEO of EA confirmed during the Q1 earnings call that the company doesn’t intend to change the current pricing system.
  • This proves that the upcoming Battlefield will be priced at $70.

Nintendo started the $80 price trend, which received an immense level of backlash. Shortly after, Microsoft followed suit, but as the backlash was too much for the gaming giant to revert to the $70 price tag.

EA also previously confirmed that it has no intention of increasing the prices of its games, as $70 right now is more than enough. However, recent leaks suggested that Battlefield 6 would cost €80, which is over $92. This started a commotion, but the CEO of Electronic Arts has just confirmed that the company has no intention of pricing the game at such a price

Why it matters: The $80 norm for video games shouldn’t be set as of now because many analysts suspect that GTA 6 could set a bar that others are very likely to follow. So, if the bar of $80 for a game sets now, it will become really complicated when the biggest video game of all time releases next year.

Battlefield 6’s Latest Trailer Increased Its Hype By A Lot

The CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson, recently revealed during the company’s Q1 earnings call that currently, there are no plans to adjust the pricing of video games. So, the price of any of its upcoming games would not exceed $70

There have been rumors going on for a while that, according to a leak, the upcoming Battlefield will cost €80. If this were true, then the base game’s price would have exceeded $90. Rumors regarding the price tag of $80 were also becoming quite common, and many fans were already deciding not to buy it if that were the case.

However, this statement by the CEO has managed to squash any rumors suggesting the game’s price will exceed $70. While fans still can’t really trust EA that much, the company’s upcoming game looks promising

EA has promise a lot of destruction for Battlefield 6, and its latest trailer managed to showcase it quite a bit. Even though it was mostly CGI, on 31st July, gameplay footage will be revealed, which will show quite a bit of what fans can expect from the game.
