MSI has reached a first time in history milestone in 2025 by shipping over 10 million motherboards. This makes MSI a major motherboard manufacturer, matching GIGABYTE. With the AI hype coming into play, combined with the typical consumer upgrade cycle, other companies such as ASRock, ASUS, and GIGABYTE are also pushing new products in the market, which makes it even more impressive to grow above the rest.
One of the reasons for these huge shipments is that their motherboards have stood out in the industry for both Intel and AMD, due to impressive improvements in VRM and SSD cooling, as well as offering reasonable prices than other brands.
Perhaps most importantly, the company has begun to expand into more affordable products, such as AMD motherboards based on the B850 chipset.
In 2021, MSI hit the milestone when it shipped around 9.5 million motherboards, when everyone was in their homes during the pandemic. Now, MSI has broken the record of 9.5 million.
Almost half of 2025 is left, and MSI has managed to break its previous record. This allows MSI to quickly approach the market leaders, which are ASUS and GIGABYTE.
According to DigiTimes, GIGABYTE is about to be surpassed by MSI, as it is estimated to ship around 10.3 million units by the end of 2025. Additionally, MSI has already shipped over 5 million GPUs.
It’s estimated that MSI alone accounts for 50% of NVIDIA-based GPU sales. The remaining 50% is shared by other manufacturers such as ASUS, GIGABYTE, Zotac, and many others.
Shipments of laptops for MSI are expected to increase dramatically by 2025, reaching 2.55 million units. This is despite a market dip caused by current US tariff issues.
