Fans Claim That Aloy From Horizon Games Is The Most Boring Video Game Protagonist

Aloy Only Worsened With The Sequel!

Story Highlight
  • Fans claim that Aloy from Horizon games seems dull in general.
  • Her character has zero depth and is often rude for no reason, making her unappealing to gamers.
  • Moreover, her voice acting doesn’t help either, and her character only worsens with the sequel.

The biggest reason why single-player games will always be dominant over multiplayer is because of the narrative and the storyline that the games build. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, and The Last of Us feature some of the best fictional stories and relatable characters.

However, not every time are we blessed with a good storyline or even characters in some instances. As fans claim, one notable example is from the Horizon games, with lead Aloy being called the most boring protagonist in the history of video games.

Why it matters: The Horizon franchise is hailed for its gameplay and for having debuted the Decima engine. However, its protagonist held back its true potential, which would otherwise make it one of the best IPs under PlayStation.

According to fans, Aloy is a dull character who hasn’t evolved much throughout the two entries. Most fans blame the writer for making her seem almost like an Alien, lacking personality, a problem that nearly every other character had in those games.

Despite Aloy’s tragic background, players felt no connection to her, and her flaws were too numerous to be overlooked, making her seem picture-perfect and fail to relate to players. There are notable examples of other great female leads, but Aloy falls to the bottom of that list.

Some even claim that her emotions sound forced, and she is stone-faced throughout all of her appearances. The voice acting doesn’t help either, and pales in comparison to the motion capture the game has.

Aloy only regressed further in the story with the sequel, featuring even a laid-back version with a stiffer version. Her facial model, which was getting some unwanted adjustments, didn’t help either; essentially, it made the character look ugly.
