What To Consider When Buying A GPU
If you’re confused by the options available at the Amazon Prime Day Sale, here’s what to consider:
- Resolution and Refresh Rate Requirements: Generally, an entry-level card like the RTX 5060 is sufficient for gaming at 1080P resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate. If you want to push to 1440P, you should at least be looking at an RX 9060 XT, and so on.
- VRAM: Most AAA titles nowadays require at least 8 GB of VRAM, with 12 GB as the intermediate and 16 GB as the recommended capacity for maxed-out settings.
- Software: Manufacturer-specific software like Nvidia’s Shadowplay, and tools like upscalers (DLSS vs FSR) and latency-optimizers (Reflex vs Anti-Lag) are often limited to the manufacturer, especially on Nvidia’s side.
- TDP: Pick your GPU according to your power supply’s wattage and ensure your system’s total power draw can be supported by it. Nvidia’s GPUs tend to be more power-efficient than AMD GPUs.

Hi! I’m Ali Tauseef, and I have been writing for Tech4Gamers since 2022. I love all things computer hardware but am particularly fond of CPUs and motherboards, and I like to stay up-to-date about the latest advancements in these worlds, and when possible, write about it. When I’m not doing that, I like to get into a little FPS action in CS2 or get lost in the vast world of RDR2.
