- The Adrenalin 25.6.3 driver update makes the RX 9070 XT a direct competitor to Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti in terms of raw performance.
- At 1440p resolution, the RX 9070 XT saw an average performance increase of 9%, whereas the RTX 5070 Ti improved by only 2.5% with its latest driver.
- AMD’s flagship GPU is now roughly 3% faster than the RTX 5070 Ti on average, reversing the previous performance gap.
AMD’s newest driver update, Adrenalin 25.6.3, has made the Radeon RX 9070 XT much faster, placing it head-to-head with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti. In some games, the 9070 XT even pulls ahead, closing the gap and making it a strong option for gamers choosing between the two cards.
Why it matters: The 9070 XT easily beats the RTX 4070 Ti Super, and now it’s capable of rivalling the new-gen 5070 Ti for a much lower MSRP.
The Adrenalin 25.6.3 driver provided the RX 9070 XT with a solid 9% performance boost across 16 games at 1440p resolution. Meanwhile, the RTX 5070 Ti received only a 2.5% increase from its latest update.
This is a big change, since the 5070 Ti was originally about 2.5% faster when it launched. Now, the 9070 XT has taken the lead by around 3% on average.
The 9070 XT saw its biggest gains in some of the most popular games. In Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, performance jumped by 27%, making it 24% faster than the 5070 Ti, which is quite a turnaround from being 8% slower before.
Other substantial improvements include an 18% increase in Hogwarts Legacy, a 14% boost in Delta Force, and a 23% increase in Counter-Strike 2. In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the 9070 XT now leads the 5070 Ti by a solid 30%.
However, not all games saw noticeable improvements. Starfield and Star Wars Outlaws only got small boosts of 5% and 3%, while games like The Last of Us Part One and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor didn’t show much change at 1440p.
At 4K, the difference between the two cards is even smaller, with both offering nearly the same performance. The real improvements can be seen at 1440p resolution.
This is good news for consumers. With AMD and Nvidia competing more closely, it could lead to better deals and more options. The RTX 5070 Ti still has an edge in features like ray tracing and DLSS Frame Generation, but the 9070 XT’s raw performance makes it an excellent choice for gamers with a much lower MSRP.
