Cyberpunk 2077 Best Shows What Switch 2 Can Do!

Story Highlight
  • Cyberpunk 2077’s quest director, Pawel Sasko, says that the game’s port for Switch 2 took a lot of effort.
  • The studio toiled hard to bring the port up to par, now essentially serving as one of the best benchmarks on the console.
  • The game also utilises DLSS on Switch 2, but allegedly delivers a resolution between 540p and 1080p with an unstable 30 FPS without it.

Switch 2 is shaping up to be a highly anticipated handheld due to the original’s strong legacy and its impressive specifications. The console is essentially capable of running almost all current AAA games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and possibly Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Now, the Cyberpunk 2077 quest director, Pawel Sasko, explains that the game’s Switch 2 port took a lot of toiling from developers to finish. Porting one of the most beloved AAA titles to the handheld was a particularly challenging task for the studio.

Why it matters: Cyberpunk 2077’s Switch port is said to be a technological marvel due to the studio’s efforts in making it happen. It can best show the capability of the upcoming handheld, according to CDPR.

On Twitter, Pawel adds that Cyberpunk 2077 essentially serves as one of the best benchmarks for the Switch 2. The port showcases the capabilities of the handheld, suggesting that other, less intensive AAA titles can be ported even better if Cyberpunk 2077 has been brought over.

Really hyped about it [the Switch 2 launch]. we have been cranking this in secret for quite long, and I’m replaying the whole game as soon [as] it’s out.

For those not in the know, Cyberpunk 2077 reportedly runs at resolutions between 540p and 1080p with an unstable 30 FPS—allegedly without DLSS. However, the game is expected to perform better with the upscaler, which was later confirmed to work with it.

Cyberpunk-Sequel-First-Person-Mode-Only
The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is also already being developed by CD Projekt Red.

For those not in the know, the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally launching on June 5, 2025, after years of anticipation. Cyberpunk 2077 is now available for pre-order and will also be released on console day one.

Do you think the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel on Switch 2 will run smoothly, or will the port suffer from performance issues due to console limitations? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
