Stellar Blade was one of the most successful releases of last year. The title opened a new ground for the South Korean industry, putting it into the mainstream. It was not only a critical but also a huge commercial success with massive revenue.
The revenue generated by the title is so massive that it has even led to the Stellar Blade director becoming one of the richest people in all of South Korea.
Why it matters: Stellar Blade helped with record revenue in 2024, and the studio even gifted its employees a PS5 Pro and $ 3.4 K.

According to Forbes, Kim Hyung-tae, director of Shift Up Entertainment, is now among the top 50 richest people in South Korea. Kim was first known for developing Blade & Soul for NCSoft until he decided to start Shift Up in 2013.
A huge chunk of the company’s success goes to its mobile title Nikke, so when Stellar Blade was announced, many fans were skeptical about it. However, once the title hit the PS5, people were pleasantly surprised by the talent the studio holds.

Nonetheless, in 2024, Shift Up’s revenue climbed by $152 million, while its net income increased by 39%. Stellar Blade then went on to win 7 awards at the Korean Game Awards, and a PC port is in development, which is scheduled to release in a few months.
