Microsoft has announced its third annual Xbox Developer Direct event, set for January 23, 2025. The 45-minute online presentation will feature updates on upcoming Xbox games and reveal a brand-new, unannounced title.
Why it matters: No one knows what the mystery announcement will be at the Developer Direct, so all eyes will be on the show.
The upcoming Xbox Developer Direct will feature in-depth looks at South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the highly anticipated Doom: The Dark Ages.
Along with these titles, the event will offer a teaser for a “brand new game” that hasn’t been revealed yet. Fans and industry insiders already speculating about the mystery title.
Some rumors point to a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. However, a reliable insider says this project is set for a 2025 release, so it may not be the surprise in question.
However, no one can truly rule out the Oblivion Remake as the surprise announcement at the Xbox Developer Direct.
Moreover, we might get a new gameplay trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages. Set in a techno-medieval world, it will explore the origins of the Doom Slayer.
It was previously reported that the upcoming Doom title will utilize the iconic id Tech engine. id Software is also working on multiple titles besides Doom: The Dark Ages.
The Developer Direct will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube, starting at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT / 6 PM UK on January 23. Like last year’s event, it will focus on gameplay and game announcements without hosts.
