Scalpers Selling Chips For Up To $1000!

Story Highlight
  • AMD’s latest 3D V-Cache chip is a major success.
  • The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is already sold out across major retailers like Amazon and Newegg.
  • This chip is now being scalped, with resellers asking for prices as high as $1000.

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor has proven to be the real star of the Zen 5 lineup. Delivering performance as impressive as 1500FPS, the latest 3D V-Cache chip has proven to be a worthy successor to the already popular Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

Following plenty of pre-release hype, the chip’s commercial performance also seems to be a huge hit for AMD. Looking at major retailers, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is already sold out.

Why it matters: AMD’s Zen 5 lineup proved to be underwhelming at release. The gaming giant struggled to move units, but the latest launch is showing a completely different outlook of the Zen 5 series.

Looking at Newegg and Amazon, the chip is no longer available on either platform. Despite the $479 launch price, consumers have rushed out to buy the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in droves.

However, this outcome is no surprise. AMD’s latest release has been dubbed the world’s best gaming processor and rightfully so. Looking at benchmarks, it comfortably shows a 10% lead over its predecessors and also beats out Intel’s best offerings.

The current demand is so high that scalpers have joined the picture. The processor is now being sold for close to $1000 on various platforms, suggesting that many of the initial units were picked up by scalpers looking to turn a profit.

Interestingly, AMD’s Ryzen 7 7800X3D is also currently at the top of Amazon’s best-sellers charts. All in all, the 3D V-Cache lineup has found just one more success in a long history of highly-demanded products.
