  • Metaphor: ReFantazio has had a pretty successful release, hitting over 85K active players on Steam in a few days.
  • The game has already achieved among the highest player counts for single-player JRPGs ever recorded.
  • It has also already topped over 1 million in sales figures, proving that Atlus’ new venture has been highly successful.

Those who patiently waited for Metaphor: ReFantazio’s release over the years are certainly eating well right now. Despite such a long wait, the title has become somewhat of a giant and has surpassed many Persona games in its milestones. However, no one expected it to shake the entire JRPG genre in only a couple of days after release.

Alongside a bundle of positive reviews, Metaphor: ReFantazio has now also gained over 85,000 active players on Steam. This massive player count is something that only happens once in a blue moon in the industry. However, the game has now set a new record for single-player entries.

Why it matters: Metaphor: ReFantazio scoring such a massive active player count suggests that Atlus’ new venture has achieved more than mere success. It also shatters any “single-player games are dying” arguments pushed by some in the industry previously.

It is worth noting that Metaphor: ReFantazio has even more active players across the many platforms where it has been released. It also proves that single-player games are here to stay and are only growing daily.
