MGS 4 On Modern Consoles No Longer A Dream!

Story Highlight
  • Konami wants to revive the Metal Gear Solid franchise with more releases.
  • The publisher has indirectly confirmed the existence of Metal Gear Solid 4 Remaster.
  • The game is expected to launch as part of the Master Collection Volume 2.

Konami is currently working on the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, the fan-favorite game. However, it doesn’t seem like this is going to be the only remake from this developer. Previously, it was reported that the giant is working on the original Metal Gear Solid remake.

It has already teased more remakes, but the studio also seems interested in releasing more entries for the Master Collection. Konami has basically just confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4 remaster is in the works.

Why it matters: Metal Gear Solid 4 has a pretty solid reputation, but it has been limited to the PS3 for more than a decade.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Is One of The Best Games In The Series

IGN asked Noriaki Okumura about Metal Gear Solid 4 coming to the modern consoles. Okumura did not say anything outright, but he basically gave a hint that confirmed what fans wanted to know.

We are aware of the situation with MGS4. We can’t really say too much with Vol 1 containing MGS 1-3 dot dot… you can probably connect the dots.

This basically confirms what fans already expected. Metal Gear Solid 4 will most certainly show up in the second Master Collection. Metal Gear Solid 4’s reception is extremely positive, so bringing it to the modern consoles would be a win for this studio.

As mentioned earlier, the game has been locked to the PS3 console for so long that many fans have bought this console just to play Metal Gear Solid 4. However, with the remaster possibly coming to PC and consoles soon, this limitation will no longer be a concern.

The remaster was previously teased by David Hayter, and a port was spotted in the Master Collection files. So, the remaster was already expected, but Konami has given fans further reason to be excited now.

Moreover, the publisher has recently discussed the future of the IP without Kojima. While it does not have much of a plan for now, there is a team that could potentially lead the series moving forward.
