Wonder Woman Game Currently In Troubled State, Says Insider

Don't Expect Anything On Wonder Woman Anytime Soon!

Story Highlight
  • Warner Bros announced Wonder Woman in late 2021.
  • According to insiders, this game’s development has not been smooth.
  • The title is also unlikely to show up at any events for a while.

Wonder Woman is currently one of the bigger superhero games in development from Warner Bros. Following the failure of Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights, the pressure is on Monolith Productions, the team that pioneered the nemesis system.

Last year, the game received a small and encouraging update when Warner Bros confirmed it would not follow in Suicide Squad’s live-service footsteps. However, the project has not been shown since the first teaser.

A new report seems to clarify why this is the case. According to an insider, Wonder Woman is going through a troubled development.

Why it matters: Monolith Productions hasn’t released a new game since 2017, so it would be a shame if its first project in so many years ended up disappointing.

This information comes from Kinda Funny Games’ Greg Miller, who has been in the gaming industry for several decades. According to his scoop, Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman is not doing great.

In the past year, I have talked to an insider, who was like this game’s in trouble.

Greg Miller did not elaborate further, but he moved on from the topic after stating that the game is unlikely to be ready for a showing. Therefore, with upcoming events like Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Showcase, this title is not too high on the list of games that could receive new trailers.

The information is also interesting since Wonder Woman was last seen in late 2021. Such a massive gap between two appearances is already a sign of concern, suggesting that the project was revealed ahead of schedule or hasn’t made the most progress since then.

Wonder Woman Will Use The Team’s Patented Nemesis System

Development hell is nothing new for the gaming industry. Various projects have suffered due to clashing ideas, executive interference, and the turbulent state of gaming in the past. Any of these could have become a major hurdle for Wonder Woman.

However, this is bad news for Warner Bros.

The company has been unable to utilize its biggest superhero properties in gaming after the Batman Arkham series wrapped up. Meanwhile, Marvel has recently released very successful titles like Spider-Man 2.
