Looks Like We'll Be Waiting Another 10 Years For GTA 7!

Story Highlight
  • The gaming world is anticipating the release of GTA 6.
  • However, Take-Two has already mentioned GTA 7 for the first time.
  • Though not much was said about this title, the publisher has acknowledged the demand for more Grand Theft Auto.

Grand Theft Auto remains among the biggest franchises in the gaming industry. Just recently, Take-Two stated that the franchise no longer has any competition as it has already become too big.

While everyone in the industry is currently anticipating the release of GTA 6, which was officially announced last year and is set to be coming next year, Take-Two has just teased GTA 7.

Why it matters: The next Grand Theft Auto entry is inevitable, but if recent history is anything to go by, we are several years away from it.

GTA 6 Is Finally Coming Next Year

During a recent interview at the TD Cowen 52nd Annual Technology, Media, & Telecom Conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick talked about multiple topics, including the PC port of GTA 6.

He stated that Rockstar would follow the same trend that has worked for them and announce the PC port in due time. The interviewer asked Strauss Zelnick about the most important subject: the next entry in the iconic franchise.

When discussing the subject, the interviewer brought up the future and stated that fans are still waiting for GTA 6, but many are looking ahead to the future. The Take-Two CEO quickly cut in and said something nobody expected.

While the discussion quickly moved on from GTA 7, this is the first time the publisher has acknowledged GTA 7. Not that we needed confirmation, but it seems GTA 7 will eventually arrive after GTA 6.

GTA 6 Is Currently The Most Anticipated Title

The Take-Two CEO was clearly joking about GTA 7 in this instance, but fans should note that once Rockstar is done releasing GTA 6, the next entry could take just as long, if not longer, to arrive. The developers also have to work on the PC port in 2026.

Elsewhere, Strauss Zelnick clarified that Rockstar has not sat idle for the last decade. The team has refined GTA Online to perfection and launched Red Dead Redemption 2, which is one of gaming’s best-selling titles now.

For now, it’s best to focus on GTA 6. Rockstar is said to be aiming for perfection and doing something unprecedented. The excitement for this entry is set to reach new highs soon, with another look expected before the end of 2024.
