Ryzen 7 5800 XT And Ryzen 9 5900 XT!

Story Highlight
  • AMD is anticipated to refresh its AM4 platform by introducing two new chips.
  • Both chips have a maximum boost speed of 4.8 GHz and a total TDP of 105W.
  • It might potentially become an attractive upgrade choice for users of the AM4 platform.

AMD is now expected to refresh its AM4 platform one last time by introducing two new Ryzen 5000 series chips. However, this move should not come as a surprise since the red team has done something similar before.

The AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT and the Ryzen 7 5800XT are two new AM4 chips expected to join the AM4 lineup.  Both the chips were shown in a somewhat pixelated screenshot leaked by CodeCommando.

Why it matters: AMD’s Ryzen 5000 lineup is still the go-to for budget users. Therefore, there is a large market of customers who could potentially consider these chips as future upgrades.

AMD Is Still Supporting The AM4 Platform

Compared to the AMD’s Ryzen 3000 XT series, this new lineup has one less CPU than the previous one, yet the advantages are comparable between the two.

With a maximum boost speed of 4.8 GHz, both chips have a total TDP of 105W. Despite sharing the same core count and cache as the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, the Ryzen 9 5900 XT is unique, as it shares the same maximum boost clock as the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X.

In terms of specs, the AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT is a 16-core chip, not a 12-core one, despite what the name might imply. Moreover, the two new processors are expected to have an MSRP of US$359 and US$249.

This could make them a compelling upgrade choice for individuals who continue to use AM4 CPUs.

According to reports, the pricing and CPU specifications were disclosed at a pre-Computex media conference, so the information is most likely accurate. Elsewhere, AMD’s planned CPUs for the Ryzen 9000 series have shown up in a new leak.

Therefore, Computex 2024 will likely be a huge event for the company.
