Production Expected To Begin By 2025!

Story Highlight
  • Control 2 was announced over two years ago.
  • The game is now ready to enter production readiness by summer.
  • This stage should last about five to six months, with production following later.

After the successful release of Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment has its hands full with multiple projects. The team is simultaneously working on Control 2, Codename Condor, Max Payne 1&2 Remake, and more.

All of these are currently in different stages of development. For instance, Max Payne will begin production soon. On the other hand, Control 2 was announced in 2022, but the game is just now set to enter the production readiness stage.

Why it matters: This update should give fans an idea of when to expect Control 2. Depending on how long the production takes, the game could be anywhere from two to four years away.

Control
Control Was Remedy’s Biggest Hit Before Alan Wake 2

Remedy Entertainment has just released its financial reports for Q1 of 2024 and provided updates about the title they are currently working on. Like the team’s other projects, Control 2 is moving ahead swiftly.

We expect the project to advance to the production readiness stage during Q2 2024.

It has also been stated that the developers are currently focused on finalizing the proof-of-concept stage, where they created the world and gameplay mechanics before bringing them to life.

Though this sounds exciting, fans should not expect to hear more about the title anytime soon. Remedy Entertainment outlines about five to six months of work for production readiness.

This means that Control is unlikely to enter production before 2025. At this rate, the game might not arrive before the next generation of consoles. However, the Control spin-off, Codename Condor, is now in full production.

Control 2 Has Already Been In Development For Around 2 Years

Other developments include a major investment in Remedy Entertainment from Tencent. After buying Techland’s majority stake, this giant has tripled its investment in the team behind Alan Wake 2, Control, and Max Payne.

Nonetheless, Control fans have much to be excited about. With multiple projects, including a proper sequel, Remedy Entertainment hopes to continue this series for the foreseeable future.

It also acquired rights to the IP earlier this year, securing Control’s future for many years to come.
